San Diego Comic-Con Report:
We are back from San Diego Comic Con 2004! As usual we had a terrific time hanging out with fellow artists, and meeting many people. It's hard to capture how large this convention is becoming. Early estimates are saying over 80,000 people attended this year's con. Our friend Stefan joined us this year; he helped man our booth when he wasn't at Udon's booth getting sketches ^_^.
I'm just going to cover some highlights of the show:
-The Wednesday 'Preview Night' was packed. A lot of people were getting a headstart on this show.
-We met Janine, who was promoting her Raver J comic and soundtrack.
-Lucasfilm's booth was impossible to miss!
-Thursday night was an enjoyable dinner with Adam Warren and Ryan Kinnaird. (Ryan's sketchbook was kickin', thanks for the copy!)
-I was able to get some decent pictures in the early hours. Everything from original Lord of the Rings costumes to a life-size Aliens vs. Predator statue. I wouldn't want to forget the T-100 exoskeleton or the 7 ft. tall Sagat from Street Fighter.
-We were invited to Sketchbook Sessions on Saturday night. It felt like all the artists from the convention showed up to this! I would have sketched, but I spent the entire time talking with Mike and Robert from Penny-Arcade, Erik Ko, Charles Allen Harris and many other people. To make the evening more interesting, fireworks were going off just outside in San Diego Harbor. The U.S.S. Ronald Reagan was being welcomed home.
-We spent a little bit of Monday sight-seeing around San Diego, and happened upon the 'Surprise' from the movie 'Master and Commander'.
We look forward to attending next year, hope you will be there too!
-Jason
08-29-04:
We have recently completed two illustrations for the Anime Weekend Atlanta convention! The first is a mascot design illustration, and the second is a headshot that will appear on the 2004 AWA badges. Both are located in our Published Gallery.
Also, check out the Artplaymix.com eBay Auctions! Jason is currently offering an original piece of art featuring a sexy fairy girl *_*.
